Hi to all mosaic artists out there! We are having a busy April! Many artists have been waiting for the new stone product Litovi, developed by Veronique Juan of Mosaistreet. The product was demonstrated at a BAMM workshop last year and several people have worked with it. Its taken time to sort out but we are now the UK distributors of the product and it is now on our shelves: Litovi is not made in the usual size tiles such as 1 x 1 cm or 2 x 2 cm. The pieces are 6 x 6 x 1cm. We chose these pieces rather than the 2 cm depth because of being able to use sidebiters/wheeled nippers to cut it, Not everyone has a hammer and hardie. The colour palette is quite large, so we have selected a range of 16 colours to start with. Kim Wozniak of Smalti.com is the US distributor.
Our relatively new item Mazurka (unglazed porcelain) is proving very popular, another product that has a vibrant colour palette. The tiles come in 25x25x4mm size and are easy to cut with sidebiters or wheeled nippers.
Just a reminder that we have over 160 colours of Orsoni Venetian Smalti in stock and also stock Italian SICIS tiles in the Iridium, Smalto and Waterglass ranges
Back to Basics: Our aim is to be a ‘one stop shop’ for mosaic artists and we are very interested in getting feedback from customers, or those who might be customers if we stocked a particular product. Contact us at sales@mosaicsupplies.co.uk or post a comment on our Facebook page. OR… (I forgot about this) you can post a comment here…be the first!!
Upcoming exhibitions: Yvette Green and Jo Moreman are having an exhibition of their work at Cirencester beginning 29th April. On 30th from 12-4 it is a meet the artists event. This is the same venue that BAMM have chosen for the annual exhibition this year; the brief is quite wide really: ‘Awakenings: Ancient themes, new perspectives’. The exhibition begins on July 2oth. There is a Facebook page ‘BAMM at Corinium 2016’ with all the details on it.
We are closely involved with the BAMM West Midlands regional group with Caroline Jariwala as the new regional coordinator. We would like to here from anyone (member or not) who is interested in Mosaics in our area which is Worcestershire Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Bristol, Staffordshire and West Midlands.
Best wishes to everyone, wherever you are and..keep mosaicing!
